2008 CAL SOCCER CAMPS
We offer a variety of soccer camps that meet the needs of players from the beginner through more advanced levels. Camps are directed by The University of California Women's Soccer Head Coach Neil McGuire and his staff. The coaches bring a wealth of experience and the same coaching philosophy used at Cal with our collegiate players. We believe in providing players the opportunity to reach their greatest potential by being challenged technically and tactically, in a fun and encouraging environment. Come join the Cal staff for a summer of soccer, friendships, and fun! _______________________ ADVANCED CAMP This camp is designed to improve the technical and tactical abilities of serious players involved in, or trying out for, State Cup competitive teams, premier club teams, Regional and State ODP teams, or having intentions of playing at the collegiate level. Athletes are grouped by ability and age level. The focus of the Resident Camp is to raise the game awareness, competitiveness, and speed of play of each player. Daily training sessions consist of: Staff: Our camps proudly offer professional/collegiate coaches who run all training sessions. Accompanying these coaches are Cal players who assist in the sessions, as well as coaching the teams in small sided competitions during evening sessions. This camp is enjoyable for the coaches, counselors, dorm mom, and players, as we all get to know one another by living and dining in close quarters. Off the field, our dorm "mom" provides games and contests every night, resulting in awards for the participating players. In addition, the group will eat dinner one night on famous Telegraph Avenue, and enjoy the popular Skit Night.
GOALKEEPER/STRIKER CAMP Our Goalkeeper/Striker Camp is an intensive, two-day camp, emphasizing specific training to Strikers and Keepers. Goalkeeper instruction progresses from basic to advanced skills and techniques, such as:
We also instruct in the tactical understanding of playing as "twin targets," runs in the box, and combinations in the attack. This is one of our most popular camps, due to the fact that we go to the goal the entire time!
FULL DAY CAMPS In addition to fundamentals, some of the technical and tactical aspects of the game our coaches teach are:
HALF DAY CAMPS These popular camps are designed to improve the technical and tactical abilities of players, in a fun and semi-competitive environment. We teach fundamental skills such as dribbling, "taking players on," and small game strategies. Players are grouped by age level. Our camps have proven to dramatically improve player techniques and skills, develop new friendships, and simply, be fun!
