2008 CAL VOLLEYBALL CAMPS ![]() Join the Cal Volleyball Coaching Staff and Players this summer for an exciting Volleyball experience full of friendship and fun!
![]() Camp is held in Haas Pavilion (pictured), home to Golden Bear Volleyball and the Rec Sports Field house (not pictured). _______________________ SKILLS CAMP Our Skills Camp is a full day camp designed for beginner to intermediate players (age 8-14). This camp provides young athletes an opportunity to experience volleyball instruction from top-level coaches and to play in a collegiate environment. Rich Feller and the Cal Women's Volleyball program sponsor this outstanding camp and introduce techniques used by the Cal team. Instruction is given in hitting, blocking, setting, serving and digging in a variety of group and individual drills as well as game play. The staff takes special care to ensure that each participant recieves personal attention and quality repetition to maximize learning and fun. For an optimal learning experience, and to maintain teaching excellence, this camp divides players by age and ability level. Camp participants are to bring a lunch and snacks, no meals will be provided. This camp is open to boys & girls.
ADVANCED SKILLS CAMP Our Advanced Skills Camps are desinged for Intermediate to Advanced players (age 14-18). These Camps incorporate many of the same coaching fundamentals and techniques as the Skills Camp, with the addition of advanced training techniques and game play. Participants should have some experience at the intermediate or advanced level for this camp, and should be entering grades 9-12 in the fall. Many of the sessions include "college" style drills and focus on the fine-tuning of an athletes skills. In addition, specific positional training and game/match preparation sessions are included. All participants are divided into appropriate age and ability level groups to ensure the most effective learning experience. In our training sessions, coaches provide special time and attention to individual player improvement, fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. July 14-16 overnight campers will recieve meals, day campers may purchase meals at the dining hall or bring their own lunch and snacks. July 21-24 camp participants are to bring thier own lunch and snacks, no meals will be provided. These camps are open to boys & girls. (Overnight Option available to Girls ONLY) ADVANCED POSITION CAMP Space Recently Added! At our Advanced Position Camp players will recieve position specific training in the mornings (Liberos, Setters, Outside Hitters, Middle Hitters) and in the afternoons will be combined to work in team situations with the emphasis continuing to be on skill improvement by position. This camp is designed for experienced players with much more intensive training. Overnight campers will recieve meals, day campers may purchase meals at the dining hall or bring their own lunch and snacks. These camps are open to boys & girls. IN-BETWEEN NIGHT STAY FOR OVERNIGHT CAMPERS ATTENDING BOTH THE ADVANCED SKILLS CAMP #1 AND THE ADVANCED POSITION CAMP: The room will cost $40.00 and you will be able to pay on the first day of camp at the check-in. The fee does not include meals, so bring some money and you may pay at the dining center for dinner on the 16th and Breakfast on the 17th. You will check in as normal on the 1st day of the Advanced Skills Camp 1 (July 14-16) and check out of your room the morning of July 17th. Day Campers may be dropped-off and picked-up at Evans Diamond Press Box. A campus parking permit is required for all on campus lots, so please limit your access to picking up and dropping off. If parents/guardians should decide to stay and watch camps in session, please utilize street (or metered) parking located near the facility.
Overnight Campers will stay in the Unit 1 Resident Complex (dormitory). "Unit 1" is about three blocks from Haas Pavilion. Dorms will have 24-hour adult supervision. Unit 1 is located at 2650 Durant Ave., Berkeley, CA 94720. All linens including towels, sheets, and pillows are provided. Some nights get cold, and participants are encouraged to bring long pants, a jacket and an extra blanket. Phone card suggested if calls home are long distance. Dorms will have adult supervision. TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION There are a few shuttle services that offer transportation to and from Oakland & San Francisco International Airports. Reservations must be made at least a few days in advance, you can make reservations over the phone or online. BAYPORTER EXPRESS
